Newcomers to the area often ask us where the best places are to live in the Boston suburbs. This week, Boston Magazine will release its latest “Best Places to Live” issue, which will highlight Hopkinton and Sudbury, MA–two of my favorite Boston suburbs (both of which my husband & I have lived in).
So what makes Hopkinton, MA so special? Here’s my two cents:
Well regarded schools. Hopkinton Public Schools received an honorable mention in the US News & World Report’s list of top US public high schools and ranks well in Boston Magazine’s list of top Massachusetts public high schools.
A welcoming community. From the Polyarts Festival to free movie nights at the pretty town common, there are plenty of opportunities to make new friends.
Family-run businesses. Hopkinton town center is filled with local businesses like Colella’s Grocery Store and Doyle’s Package Store (no relation!). I love that when I walk into the Hopkinton Gourmet, Dave, the owner greets me and remembers my favorite sandwich.
Easy highway access. Whether I’m commuting to Boston or headed to the Cape for the weekend, Hopkinton offers convenient train and highway access.
Tons of outdoor activities. There are plenty of parks for hiking, plus Lake Whitehall for canoeing and kayaking and Lake Maspenock for swimming and boating.
