Often clients who are relocating to the Boston area look for a short-term rental home until they get to know the area a little better. While I can’t recommend specific rentals, here are a few sources other newcomers to the Boston area have used to locate short-term housing:

www.positiverelocation.com – Lists apartment, single-family home, and townhome rentals that are listed in the Boston Massachusetts MLS (Multiple Listing Service)

Craigslist – Lists apartment and home rentals available through individuals and brokers

Avalon Communities – Own apartment complexes in Acton, Chestnut Hill, Lexington, Marlborough, Newton Highlands, Northborough & Shrewsbury, among others. Many of these apartment complexes offer short-term rentals.

Hint: When the Boston real estate market, you may be able to find homeowners willing to rent their home on a short-term basis to temporarily cover their mortgage until they sell it.

A note of caution: There is a lot of older housing stock in the Boston area (i.e., built during times when lead paint was used). If you have young children or are planning a family, be sure to confirm that the property has been deleaded.
