Here's why: As our friends at MSA Mortgage pointed out in the above chart, interest rates are still very low. Buyers are out in force, looking to snag a home before the spring market gets a little crazy and rates start to creep up.

Tucked in a box of used books my father-in-law gave us was a great little book called Relocation Boston. It includes a fun graphic designed to help those moving to the Boston area decide which towns they could afford. It color codes home values (circa 1986). Everything coded in green was a quick glance at Boston towns with "homes found under $100K". Those were the days!
The Boston area MLS (called MLSPIN) is a great resource for finding a home in and around Boston. On any given day, the Boston MLS lists some 20,000 homes for sale in Boston, the Boston suburbs, and beyond.
Boston's luxury real estate market is looking good this spring. We've already seen an increase in the volume of sales over the same time last year. 274 single family homes priced at $1 million and above have sold in the area this spring, compared to 231 luxury homes sold last year.
I'm pleased to share this infographic we created to highlight home values across Boston's MetroWest suburbs. Mapping home values makes it fairly easy to see the big difference in prices as you head further away (or closer in) to Boston. Whether you're looking to live in Wellesley & have a lightning fast commute to Boston or get more house for your money a bit further away in Hopkinton, hopefully this chart will be a helpful rule of thumb.
