Sherborn MA libraryAfter a week offline immersed in Kleenex, Nyquil, and a host of cold remedies, I’m awfully glad to be back to blogging! Today I ventured out to the Sherborn Library, and took this shot of the gorgeous European Purple Beech tree outside its front doors.

I wish I were a better photographer and could truly capture the magnificence of this old beauty, and the way the line shines through the leaves on a crisp autumn day like today.

I learned today that the tree was actually planted back in 1876, as a gift from the graduating class of Sawin Academy, which originally stood on the site of what is our library today. Thank you to librarian Donna Bryant for sharing this story.
