Welcome to the Award-Winning Boston Suburbs Real Estate Blog
Yesterday I wrote about some of the most desirable neighborhoods in Hopkinton among relocating professionals. But you don't need to be a high-powered executive to afford to live in Hopkinton. Here are three of my favorite Hopkinton neighborhoods with a more affordable price tag. (Well, affordable for the Boston suburbs anyway! :-)

Hopkinton is becoming an even more popular destination for those relocating to the Boston area. The town has gained a lot of attention lately since it was named one of Boston Magazine's Best Places to Live and gained high marks in both Boston Magazine's Top Massachusetts Public High Schools and Newsweek's list of America's Best High Schools (plus an honorable mention in U.S. News & World Report's annual list of Best Public High Schools).
When touring new clients relocating to the Hopkinton area this past weekend, I was asked about some of my favorite neighborhoods. Here are a few of my favorites (plus my two cents on the pros & cons of each).
One of the largest subdivisions in Hopkinton, Springwood Estates is less than 2 miles from Hopkins School (grades 4 & 5), Hopkinton Middle School (grades 6-8), and Hopkinton High School (grades 9-12) and approximately 4 miles from the Ashland Commuter Rail station. These large colonial-style homes have generous-sized lots, mostly just over an acre. Quite a few homes in the neighborhood have level yards, which is not so common in some of the other developments in town. Many of the homes were built in the 1990s in this mature neighborhood of pretty tree-lined streets.
Springwood Estates includes Gibbon Road, Kimball Rd, Smith Road, Jackson St, Bowker Road, Oak St, Sadie Lane, and Benson Road. Some of the builders of this development include Aolen Development and Ron Nation.
Three homes sold in Springwood Estates in the past year, at prices between $592,500-810,000.
Developed by Hallmark Builders in the mid 1990s, Highland Park is a development of expansive colonial-style homes with high-end finishes. The neighborhood is located next to the picturesque Hopkinton Country Club and is about two miles from the Southborough train station. Due to its proximity to Rt 495 there is some highway noise on the streets closer to the highway.
Highland Park includes Stoney Brook Road, Edgehill Road, Bridgestone Way, Wedgewood Drive, Singletary Way, and Riverbend Road.
Three homes have sold in Highland Park this past year at prices between $695,200-875,000.
Hearthstone Estates is a small development of approximately 30 colonial-style homes just three miles from the Ashland train station. The neighborhood is walking distance to town center. The historic Hopkinton Town Common is a great place to enjoy a night of jazz, free movie nights, a sunny afternoon, or a stroll past some of Hopkinton's handsome historic homes. You can also walk to Center School (grades K-1), Hopkinton Public Library, as well as the few cafes and shops in the town center.
Most of the homes were built in the late 1990s/early 2000s, with plenty of high-end upgrades. Like many Hopkinton neighborhoods, some of the lots are sloped in Hearthstone.
One home sold in the Hearthstone neighborhood in the past year, with a sale price of $625,000.
